TERRIBLY EMACIATED PIT NEEDS OUR HELP!
On Wednesday, August 18, 2010, we, For the Love of Pits, were contacted by a young man requesting our help with a severely emaciated, female pit bull who he found on the street with another dog. He kept repeating that she is the skinniest dog he has ever seen so we had to help. We met him at our vet and she is absolutely emaciated.

At first, we thought she was a puppy but our vet aged her at approximately 3 years of age. She weighs only 20 pounds and is covered in fleas. We have started flea treatment and put her on good food. Although we are very overwhelmed, we do not want to see this girl put down. As a result, we have sent out pleas for someone to open their home for her.
Because the young man is not able to care for her, we only have until Thursday to find her a place to go. We also must get her a full medical check up, all of her vaccinations and it's very likely she'll need dental work given her horrible teeth. We are hoping to have a foster home but if that does not happen in the next 12 hours, we will need to board her until a space opens up. We do not have the funds for this, though, so we must reach out to the public for help.
We will schedule an appointment with our vet in the morning and will also make an appointment for boarding just in case. Our vet is: Mandel Veterinary Hospital in Cleveland Heights, Ohio.
For the Love of Pits is a 501(c)(3) not for profit pit bull rescue in Cleveland, Ohio. We are very small with only 3 foster homes and are always looking for qualified and dedicated people to foster needy pit bulls. ALL DONATIONS ARE TAX DEDUCTIBLE and 100% of the funds are used directly to care for the dogs.
If you have any questions, please feel free to send an email to: shana@fortheloveofpits.org.
We will send receipts to all who donate and will keep you updated! If you can think of a name for this sweet girl, ideas are welcome.
Thank you for your help.
